Surf Psychologist & Hypnotherapist
It’s not a lack of Skill That’s holding you back, it’s what you believe about yourself
A group-based surf psychology coaching program where you explore and understand the inner patterns behind fear, hesitation, and self-criticism, learn practical ways to meet fear and pressure differently, and start surfing with more ease, trust, and enjoyment – together with other surfers who feel the same.
Why it Feels Harder Than it Should
Why "Just Do IT" Doesn't Work
Most of us learned to handle inner struggles by overriding them. Be tougher. Stop overthinking. Commit harder.
So when fear lingers or confidence wavers, it’s easy to assume you are the problem. That you’re not strong enough, brave enough, disciplined enough.
But what’s happening in those moments isn’t a lack of willpower.
It’s a learned response. A pattern.
Your system is trying to protect you from something it reads as risky — embarrassment, failure, loss of control, being seen. And no amount of “just do it” can change a pattern you don’t yet understand.
This program doesn’t teach you to overpower yourself. It helps you recognize what’s actually happening inside you, make sense of it, and learn new ways to meet those moments.
Change doesn’t come from fighting yourself
Understand Your Patterns
You learn to recognize what actually happens inside you when fear, pressure, or self-criticism shows up – and why. Not in theory, but through your own lived experience.
Learn Practical Tools
You’re given simple tools and exercises that will help you meet these moments differently, in and out of the water. Real ways to shift your inner response.
Share in a Safe Space
In a small group of surfers, you hear your own inner world reflected in others. You realize you’re not alone. That recognition is deeply regulating and deeply human.

You’re not left alone with insights. In every live session, you receive personal reflections and guidance that help you see yourself more clearly and move forward with direction.

Toward More Freedom in the Water
You paddle out with less tension in your body
Fear still show up, but it doesn’t run the session in the same way
Sometimes you fall back in old patterns but you’ll catch yourself and recover more quickly
You stop turning every wave, wipeout, or session into a judgment of yourself
Your decisions in the water feel clearer, less second-guessed
There’s more room for presence, curiosity, and enjoyment
With that, surfing often starts to feel lighter. Not because it’s perfect,
but because you’re no longer fighting yourself.
Many people come to this program because something feels stuck in
their surfing. What they often leave with is a deeper sense of trust in
themselves, in the water and beyond.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to have daily access to surf during the program?
No you don’t. ideally you are able to surf 2-3 times between each live session. However, there is a lot you can do even if you don’t manage to surf every week.
Do I have to be a certain level to participate?
No, everyone works on their own goals at their own pace. We come together weekly and even though ou share in a group setting, you get personal feedback based on your needs.
What if I miss a live session, will there be recordings?
You can miss the first one and it will be recorded. After that no recordings will be made of the live sessions. This is because the live sessions is a safe space where people share their struggles and I don’t record that to ensure peoples privacy and comfort.
At what time is the live sessions?
As you apply to the program you choose what time you are able to attend the live sessions and that’s when the sessions will be held.

About Me
I’m Lisa Davidsson — a psychologist, hypnotherapist, and surfer.
I didn’t grow up surfing. I found the ocean as an adult, after years of studying the human mind and working in mental health. But long before I ever picked up a board, two threads were already shaping my life: a deep curiosity for the human mind, and a love for sport as a path to self-mastery.
As a child, that path ran through horses. Riding taught me that growth isn’t only about skill, it’s about presence, your relationship yo yourself, and who you become in the process. Surfing became that same practice with the ocean. A place where fear, freedom, humility, and joy meet in real time. A place where inner patterns are revealed without negotiation.
Surf psychology was born at that meeting point.
My work brings together two decades in psychology with lived experience in the water. It’s not life coaching dressed in surf language. It’s clinical depth applied to a world I know from the inside — the waves, the lineup, the culture, the quiet inner battles that unfold out there.
I don’t teach surfers to override themselves. I help them understand what’s happening beneath the surface and change it where it actually lives. So surfing becomes a place of growth instead of struggle.
This is not about becoming fearless.
It’s about becoming free enough to choose.
WORDS FROM PREVIOUS PARTICIPANTS

“Lisa’s surf psychology course was a great experience for me. I started with low confidence and a heavy dose of imposter syndrome, constantly comparing myself to others. Through Lisa’s thoughtful guidance, I connected with an incredible group of women, many of whom were far more experienced than me. This helped me realize that challenges like self-doubt and fear don’t disappear with skill level—they’re part of the journey for all of us. Lisa created a safe space where we could be vulnerable, truly listen to one another, and celebrate each other’s wins. The sense of encouragement and camaraderie in the group was inspiring, and it gave me the tools to grow both in the water and beyond.”
Laura, Bali

Lisa’s Surf Psychology was a fantastic experience, helping me tackle some of my surf limitations while setting achievable and measurable goals, all within a supportive group work environment. A huge part of our surfing journey begins and ends in the mind, and Lisa’s program helped me dig deep to learn more about myself, the reactions and responses I have in certain environments, and what I have the power to change. I highly recommend this program and encourage you to get involved and reach your next surfing goal!
Keith, Australia

Lisa’s 4 week coaching program helped me to identify exactly what the two things were holding me back in my surfing, then gave me the tools and support to work on them. Highly recommend Lisa and her program if there’s something hindering your progress or enjoyment of surfing. She’s down to earth, warm, practical, and perfectly combines her professional expertise with a deep understanding of surfing.
Ali, Australia

Lisa’s surf pychology program was a transformative experience. As a surf physiologist, she brings a unique and deeply informed approach that helped me understand the roots of my fear in the water—and more importantly, how to work through it. Her thoughtful guidance, compassionate insight, and the way she asks just the right questions created a safe space for growth. She holds you accountable in a way that’s both supportive and empowering. Through this program, I not only began to shift my relationship with fear, but also developed a deeper sense of self-compassion that has carried into other areas of my life.
